Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Great Park!

Join us on September 29th from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Great Park for the third annual Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, hosted by the City of Irvine in collaboration with the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center. Dive deep into the rich traditions of the Asian lunar festival that dates back over two thousand years, and experience a night under the moonlit sky, reminiscent of ancient Chinese emperors paying homage to the moon.

Originating from China where emperors once offered ceremonies to the moon hoping for bountiful harvests, the Mid-Autumn Festival has since transformed into a widespread celebration, not only in China but also in countries like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian nations. Today, it stands second only to the Lunar New Year as a time for family reunions.

The Irvine Mid-Autumn Festival is a family-friendly event with an array of activities designed to promote cultural exchange. Look forward to interactive educational sessions, entertainment, crafts, food trucks, and art performances. Local community partners will also be on-site to share valuable information and resources.

South Coast Chinese Cultural Center will proudly present performances from our South Coast Chinese Orchestra, Chinese Drum Team, Chinese Dance Company of Southern California, and Taichi Club. Expect a wonderful blend of traditional and contemporary shows, combining history and modern innovation.

South Coast Chinese Cultural Center has also produced several game booths for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival: Moon Tunnel, Arrow Toss, Prize Lasso, Tic Tac Toe, Tornado Pin Ball and Traditional Chinese Costume Photo Booth.

第三屆爾灣市中秋節慶

9月29日帶家人朋友來大公園賞月

爾灣市與南海岸中華文化中心再度攜手合作，將於9月29日，星期五，下午5點至9點，在大公園舉辦第三屆中秋賞月活動，與居民一起慶祝亞洲各國農曆八月十五的傳統習俗。

中秋節的歷史可以追溯到兩千多年前，當時中國帝王在農曆八月十五晚上要到都城郊外舉行祭月儀式，設香案，擺瓜果，祈求五穀豐收。這樣的習俗逐漸傳到市井百姓，慶祝的花樣越來越多。日本、韓國、越南以及東南亞其他國家也有類似的慶祝節日。對許多人來說，中秋節僅次於農曆新年，是家人團聚賞月的節日。

適合全家大小一起參與的爾灣中秋節慶安排了鼓勵互動交流的教育、娛樂、手工藝、餐車和藝術展演節目。當地社區合作夥伴將出席支援活動，並分享組織資訊和資源。
南海岸中華文化中心的中華樂團、鼓團、南加中華舞團及太極俱樂部，將在爾灣中秋節慶中登台表演，展現融合傳統與現代的創新節目。
今年南海岸中華文化中心特別為爾灣中秋節慶提供全新設計的遊戲攤位，包括月亮隧道、投壺（Arrow Toss）、套圈圈（Prize Lasso)、棒球九宮格（Tic Tac Toe）、彈珠（Tornado Pin Ball） 及漢服拍照區。
