Next week (11/22, 11/25, 11/26), there will be no classes in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyous Thanksgiving break. The subsequent classes will resume on 11/29, 12/2, and 12/3.

While studying Chinese in the US and experiencing traditional Chinese festivals like the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival, how can parents assist their children in learning Chinese during traditional American holidays such as Thanksgiving?

Tips: Parents may discuss with their children about the common values and.or difference between traditional Chinese holidays and American holidays. For example, Thanksgiving is a time for family gatherings; are there any Chinese holidays that involve similar family reunions?

問: 在海外學習中文，除了有中國傳統節日(農曆新年、中秋節等)提供體驗文化的機會，到了美國傳統節日時, 我們父母可以怎麼幫助孩子學習中文?

小貼士: 父母可以藉由孩子對美國節日的理解, 比較中美不同文化的節日異同。例如：感恩節要到了,可以請孩子用中文說一說,  生活中有什麼讓我們感恩的事?感恩節的時候全家團圓，有哪些中國節日也會這麼做?
