On April 3rd, according to the Taiwan Meteorological Bureau, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Hualien, Taiwan. Following the strong quake, as of 10 p.m. on April 4th, there have been over 400 aftershocks. The South Coast Chinese Cultural Association (SCCCA) is an educational and cultural charity organization spontaneously formed by Chinese in Southern California. Not only did SCCCA establish the largest scale Irvine Chinese School in Southern California in 1976, it also gathered the strength of the Chinese community in 2005 and established independently the only South Coast Chinese Cultural Center in Southern California dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture and Chinese learning and advocating and realizing a multicultural life."
