Pei-Yuan Chia : A Leader Dedicated to mentorship & Charitable Giving

Pei-Yuan Chia (born 1939) is a philanthropist and an American banker. From 1974 until his retirement in 1996, he rose to the highest echelon of management - to the rank of Vice Chairman at Citicorp and Citibank, and held directorships in several major multinational corporations and universities. Here in our vicinity, Mr. chia was a Trustee of the Hoag Hospital Foundation Board for over 9 years (the first non-white member on that board), while concurrently serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Chia Family Foundation with emphasis on medical and education-related projects to benefit the US and Chinese societies.
Mr. Chia is the product of the finest educational institutions in Taiwan and in the US. While contributing with distinction to his profession, he also received the multinational corporate “grooming” on three continents - N. America, Asia and Europe. He received his BA in Economics from Tunghai University in 1961, followed by his matriculation at Harvard, later receiving his MBA in 1965 at the Wharton Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania. Having been raised in the Greater China region in his formative years where he imbibed Chinese culture; he has also been steeped in the culture of the American corporate enterprises.
Giving back to his alma mater has been among Chia’s priorities. He established an endowed professorship in marketing, the Frances and Pei-Yuan Chia Chair, at the Wharton School. He also served on the Wharton Graduate Executive Board of the University of Pennsylvania.
賈培源: 一位致力於人才培育與慈善公益的領袖

賈培源先生出身金融世家，1939 年生於香港，日本侵華期間，隨父母前往重慶，戰後返回上海，國共內戰時移居香港，後又於 1951 年定居台灣。賈先生在台灣接受完整的中學及大學教育，1961 年畢業於東海大學經濟系，服完兵役後赴美留學。當時取得哈佛大學、哥倫比亞大學、賓州大學及芝加哥大學等知名學府博士班的入學許可，在哈佛大學短暫就讀後，轉至賓州大學華頓商學院，1965 年取得 MBA 學位，進入美國通用食品公司，擔任品牌管理及行銷策略主管。1974 年加入花旗銀行擔任消費金融主管，1992 年成為花旗銀行六位最高決策成員之一，也是花旗銀行華人擔任最高職務者。
1996 年賈先生從服務二十二年的花旗集團副董事長兼北美花旗銀行董事的職位退休。賈先生在花旗推出 MA 制度（Management Associate），培養儲備幹部，台灣金融機構許多知名高階主管，都出自花旗 MA，也由於賈先生的緣故，花旗成為台灣銀行界人才的搖籃及延攬的對象。賈先生學術及業界資歷豐富 : 在學術機構方面，賈先生是華頓商學院董事及 SEI 管理研究中心資深院士和洛克菲勒大學諮詢委員 ; 2007 年賈先生獲頒東海大學榮譽博士學位，2013 年獲頒美國華人博物館（The Museum of Chinese in America ，MOCA）終身成就獎。在金融企業界，陸續擔任過香港中國銀行，新加坡航空公司，AIG 美國國際集團，Baxter 百特醫療，Case Corporation 等多家國際企業董事，並曾擔任紐約大學醫學中心，亞洲協會，華美協進社等公益機構的理事，以及淡馬錫控股（Temasek Holdings Private）資深顧問。過去九年，賈先生作為 Hoag Hospital 基金會的董事，捐款資助該院 electrophysiology program 的醫療與研究，曾是董事會中唯一非白人理事。
賈培源先生退休後，擔任他與第一任妻子嚴雋荃女士創建的賈氏家族基金會董事長，致力推動慈善公益事業不遺餘力。近年來，賈先生及其家人更將慈善服務的觸角，擴展至醫療與社區關懷，賈先生的第二任妻子沈君玉（Kitty Shen）女士目前擔任橙縣 Hoag Hospital 及 Families Forward 兩所機構的董事。Families Forward 乃一非營利組織，旨在協助無居所與生計困境者，終能得以重新自力更生。賈先生與夫人長期的奉獻付出，不僅澤被眾人，也豐富了他們的幸福人生。賈先生曾說：「自己在中國文化下成長，後又接受美國教育與文化影響。基金會以慈善為目的，一定做對中美兩國都有益，並以醫療和教育相關的項目為優先」。賈培源先生幾十年默默付出，提攜後進，耕耘不斷，在中美兩國文化及社會之間貢獻卓越，是華人後輩的楷模。
