Olympic gold medalist Nathan Chen who trained at Irvine’s Great Park Ice will release his first memoir on Nov 22. In “One Jump at a Time” Nathan tells the story of his remarkable journey to success, reflecting on his life as a Chinese American figure skater. He describes the joys and challenges he has experienced—including the tremendous sacrifices he and his family made, and the physical and emotional pain he endured.
Last February, Nathan Chen became the first U.S. singles skater to win Olympic gold since 2010, doing so four years after faltering as a favorite at the Olympics. During a welcome back event in front of the Great Park Ice, Nathan Chen credited his Olympic gold to support from his family, coaches and teammates.
Nathan Chen is back at Yale University to complete his college degree. He is also working on an inspirational picture book “Wei Skates On” about facing your fears and finding joy in sports, no matter the outcome. It will be published on Feb. 21, 2023.
