The mid-autumn festival event co-hosted by the city of Irvine and South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, together with the great participation of the AAPI community in Orange County, was a successful event September 9.
Hundreds of families participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Great Park in the midst of some rain that night. The smiles and laughter of grandparents, dad and mom and the kids cast away the cloudiness. It was a successful festive event making a footnote that the heatwave is finally fading away.
Traditional attire and accessories such as paper fans, lanterns, robes can be seen and worn to be photographed. Children painted on the fans and lanterns, tried the Chinese string instruments, to get the taste of the Asian heritage. Did we forget to mention the food trucks? No, we are not going to. The aroma of all kinds of food floated in the air making the ambience more relaxing and memorable.
On the main stage, dozens of performing art groups showed their talents. The audience enjoyed the great performance and the opportunity to see the differences as well as the common characteristics of Asian Cultures.
We thank the City of Irvine who is committed to honoring traditional and culturally-relevant events that highlight the City’s diverse and multicultural community.
