More than 30 adults and kids came to SCCCA Multicultural Support Group’s Mandarin Storytime on November 6. Several volunteer parents prepared three childrens’ songs including Wheels on the Bus, and had everyone sing along. The songs were followed by story-telling in Chinese, and also with English/Chinese teaching and interpretation. Children aged from 1 to 8 years old were quite focused during the songs and stories.
Many parents told us that this was their first time visiting the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center. We loved the smiles on everyone’s face!

The recap below is from the Multicultural Support Group about this event:

Our first Mandarin Storytime was a success with 16 families participating! A big thank you to Stephanie Matsumoto for leading the storytelling, Kimberly Yang for bringing toys and handling logistics/photos, and Shan Lin and Ben Sun for providing the SCCCC support. Centered around the theme of "Transportation," we shared popular Chinese-Taiwanese and American children's songs in Mandarin, read 3 books (the children didn't want to stop at 2!), reviewed simple transportation vocabulary flashcards, and ended the afternoon with kids running around in the amphitheater playing "Red Light, Green Light."
