Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy (ICIA) Charter Petition received unanimous approval from the Irvine Unified School District Board at the February 7, 2023 board meeting. ICIA is the first-ever charter school authorized by IUSD and will enroll more than 400 students in the Mandarin Immersion program starting this fall.
IUSD board members expressed their support for the dual language program and for the ICIA charter petition citing the speeches from parents, students, and community members at the public hearing on December 13, 2022. The founding team members of ICIA were present at the board meeting to thank the board and district staff for a comprehensive review of the charter petition.

爾灣公立學校聯合學區（IUSD）於2023年2月7日的教委會議中審核 Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy (ICIA) 成立公立特許小學的請願案，ICIA是第一個獲得爾灣學區,正式批准的公立特許小學，計畫在未來五年內招收超過400名學生。
爾灣公立學校聯合學區（IUSD）的五位教委均表達了他們對雙語小學和 ICIA 的支持，他們引用在去年12月13日公聽會中多位家長、學生及社區人土的建言，肯定ICIA 有助於提倡多元、公平、創新的教育機會。 ICIA 創校團隊昨晚也到場向學區教委及總監致謝，並期待今後繼續與爾灣學區合作。
