The Irvine Senior Harmonica Band is presenting a 60-minute concert at the Irvine Chinese School's amphitheater on March 25th at 2 pm. The band was founded in 2015 by Dr. Ouyang, a clinical psychologist, at the Lakeview Senior Center as part of the senior services of the city.
The band performs an average of five to six shows annually and has also started to serve disadvantaged groups. They have visited nursing homes, orphanages, and homes for unwed mothers, among others, to share love through music.
The harmonica has transcended its image as a child's toy, and it has become an instrument suitable for all ages as it’s easy to carry around. You can learn solo techniques from beginner to professional levels and even form duets, trios, chamber music and symphony orchestras. There are also harmonica festivals and harmonica symphony orchestra competitions in Asia.
The Irvine Senior Harmonica Band offers beginner classes for people who have no music background in January and July at the Lakeview Senior Center. After half a year of practice, participants can audition to join the harmonica band.

為在社區推廣口琴音樂，爾灣銀髮族口琴樂團將於3月25日下午2點起，在爾灣中文學校的戶外劇場，舉行一場60分鐘的演奏會。
爾灣銀髮族口琴樂團是2015年由臨床心理學博士歐陽楊梅玉，在爾灣市的湖景老人中心成立，是市政府服務年長市民的重要項目之一。經常應邀南加州各地演出，每年平均演出5、6場，近年更致力服務弱勢團體，多次前往安養院、孤兒院、未婚媽媽之家…等，透過音樂分享愛心。
口琴音樂的發展，已跳脫從前一般認為是小孩玩具的印象，成為一種老少咸宜、攜帶方便的樂器。獨奏技巧的學習，可從初級班到專業的演奏。另外還可組成二重奏，三重奏，室內樂，大合奏，甚至交響樂…等。在亞洲還有口琴節及口琴交響樂團的比賽。
爾灣市政府規定，50歲以上即可參加老人中心的課程。口琴樂團每年元月和七月在湖景老人中心，為沒學過口琴、沒有音樂背景的人開設基礎班，經過半年學習，即可參加口 琴樂團試音。有興趣者請電949-857-0299或電郵 fe20@hotmail.com 詢問詳情。
