A Milestone Moment
As springtime graduation ceremonies and year-end parties mark the passage of time, the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC) is also stepping into a new chapter. We're not just marking the end of another successful year, but celebrating the Center's milestone 18th birthday, symbolizing our readiness to spread our wings and soar to new heights.
In honor of this remarkable occasion, and to commemorate the centennial birthday of our respected Ms. Kuan Yuan Tai, the Center is proud to unveil a special children’s book titled “The Story of the Kuan Yuan Tai Building”. This work of love represents our gratitude towards Ms. Tai and embodies the spirit of our Center.
Our dynamic CEO, Yulan Chung, has expressed the Center’s Vision and Mission for the next phase of development. She emphasizes a triad of pillars crucial to our growth: education, culture, and community.
Education is and will continue to be at the forefront of our initiatives. Since the establishment of the Irvine Chinese School in 1976, we have branched out to start a Chinese immersion preschool, a private immersion school, and a charter school. Each of these institutions, though catering to diverse student populations, upholds a shared objective: to foster understanding and appreciation of Chinese language and culture within the United States.
Cultural preservation and promotion form the second pillar. The Center has proudly founded the South Coast Chinese Orchestra, Southern California Dance Company, and South Coast Taichi Club, among others. We've also spearheaded a Media Lab to boost our multimedia outreach efforts across Irvine and Orange County, employing modern communication tools to connect effectively with our community.
The final pillar, community building, underpins all we do at the Center. Throughout the pandemic, we've partnered with the City of Irvine, Orange County, and various nonprofit organizations to mitigate the pandemic's impact on public health. This collaboration embodies our ongoing commitment to contributing positively to our community.
As we celebrate 18 years of the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who's been part of this incredible journey. Here's to more years of sharing the richness of Chinese culture and forging stronger ties within our community.
