Taiwan's Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Chia-Ching Hsu, paid a special visit to the Irvine Chinese School on June 16. The Minister gifted Principal Yulan Chung with a calligraphy scroll, carefully inscribed: "Cultivate Talents." This phrase signifies a nod of approval and appreciation for Irvine Chinese School's endeavors. In return, Principal Yulan Chung gave Minister Hsu two books published by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center “Chinese Americans In Irvine, 1971-2021” & “The Story of the Kuan-Yuan Tai Educational Building”
Minister Hsu congratulated SCCCA for collaborating with the Irvine school district and the community to spearhead the public charter school Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy. She said that the Irvine Chinese School is a beacon of excellence and should serve as a paradigm for heritage schools worldwide. Her call to action? To expand their educational vistas beyond Chinese Americans, thus nurturing an inclusive tapestry of global citizens. Hsu's visit marked not just an exchange of gifts and ideas, but an affirmation of shared values and the unyielding spirit of educational innovation.
