Have you ever been mesmerized by the rhythmic beats of Chinese drums? If you're between the ages of 7 and 18, here's your chance to not only learn this ancient art form but also be a part of a vibrant community at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC). The SCCCC is inviting beginners and experienced drummers to join the drum team, led by the esteemed Mr. Bin He, conductor of the South Coast Chinese Orchestra.

Chinese drumming is not only an exhilarating musical experience but also a holistic exercise for both the mind and the body. Here are some of the benefits you can expect from being a part of the drum team:

  1. Physical Fitness: Drumming is a full-body workout that requires coordination between your hands, arms, and feet. It helps in building muscle strength, improving cardiovascular health, and enhancing motor skills.
  2. Mental Health: Playing the drums can be a great stress reliever. It helps in releasing endorphins, the ‘feel good’ hormones, which act as natural painkillers and mood enhancers.

The drum team practices every Wednesday from 6 pm to 7 pm starting September 6, and there will be opportunities for performances as well. So not only will you get to learn and practice, but you'll also have the chance to showcase your skills in front of an audience!
