On the morning of October 21st, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra presented their first family concert of the season, merging Mid-Autumn Festival, Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and Diwali into a kaleidoscope of autumn festivities. The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center was delighted to be part of this event, introducing the audience to the customs and music of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Fifteen dancers from the Southern California Chinese Dance Company graced the stage with three ethnic dances, including "Jasmine" and "Chinese New Year Overture" performed by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, as well as a solo performance of the "Yi Ethnic Dance" by Chinese-American young Guzheng virtuoso, Ella He.

The family concert by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra targeted children aged 5 to 11 and their families. In the 45-minute program, alongside the orchestra's enchanting melodies, four actors wove together stories of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and Diwali, allowing the entire audience, both young and old, to immerse themselves in the rhythms and melodies of different cultures.

On this special day, members of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and many guests donned various Halloween costumes. Fairies, princesses, pirates, and animals roamed the concert hall, bringing a lively and festive atmosphere.

The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center set up a cultural booth on the second floor of the concert hall, offering traditional games for the curious and arranging photo sessions with Chang'e, which was especially popular among the children. This unique fusion of cultures and festivities brought joy and cultural enrichment to all attendees, creating lasting memories for families in the community. The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center is proud to have been a part of this magical celebration of music and tradition.
