
The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center brought a lively cultural educational experience to over 70 employees of the Honda Center. Through meticulously planned activities, the event aimed to promote Asian and Chinese culture and enhance awareness of the knowledge related to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
The Executive Chief representing the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center delivered an inspiring greeting during the event, creating an atmosphere akin to a joyful cultural journey. As part of the celebration of the Lunar New Year with the AAPI community, our team guided employees in savoring delicious dumplings. More than just a culinary delight, dumplings symbolize ancient ingots, signifying good luck and prosperity. The combination of cuisine and culture during the event aimed to enhance the auspiciousness of the New Year.
The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center showed that Lunar New Year is not just a global celebration but also a festivity that spreads across the world. Marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of the New Year, the event showcased celebrations from various parts of the globe. Orange County, with its impressive population of 3.15 million, including 750,000 from the AAPI community, reflects the diversity of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander descendants. Irvine stands out as the hub of AAPI, with 134,000 residents representing this vibrant community. Cities like Garden Grove, Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and Westminster have embraced the cultural trends of the AAPI community, especially during Lunar New Year celebrations.
To better embrace the Lunar New Year, the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center provided a series of tips for Honda Center's employees, including wearing 2024 Year of the Dragon-themed attire, tasting dumplings and tangyuan, wearing red for good luck, and not forgetting to exchange red envelopes. At the same time, Alice, the renowned Guzheng performer from the South Coast Chinese Orchestra, presented two enchanting Guzheng melodies to the staff at the Honda Center. Everyone immersed themselves in the ocean of classical music, elevating the essence of this event.
Finally, Honda Center employees enthusiastically participated in entertaining paper-cutting activities. The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center looks forward to continuing to share wonderful moments with Honda Center in future cultural events, wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous new year filled with unforgettable cultural experiences.
