Yesterday, the South Coast Chinese Orchestra held a magnificent Lunar New Year concert in response to the enthusiastic invitation from the Grammy Museum. This musical extravaganza marked not only the debut of a Chinese orchestra at the Grammy Museum but also served as a cross-cultural celebration where East met West. The venue was packed to capacity, with not a single empty seat in sight. The prestigious performance was generously sponsored by Preferred Bank, a leading financial institution.
Conductor Mr. He Bin meticulously arranged fourteen diverse musical pieces for the performance. Ranging from traditional Lunar New Year tunes like the lively "The Crazy dance of Golden Snake" to the exotic melodies of the "Great Desert" and the ethnic rhythms of the " Dance of Yi" the repertoire also included Western pop classics such as "Game of Thrones" and "Angry Birds." Each piece showcased the orchestra's unique charm, blending the elegance of Chinese instruments with the richness of Western string instruments, providing the audience with a captivating audio-visual experience.

The South Coast Chinese Orchestra is not limited to Chinese instruments, but also incorporates Western instruments.

During the concert, the conductor He paid special attention to the audience's sense of participation. He prepared several percussion instruments for the audience to join in and keep rhythm during certain performances. This initiative aimed to break down the barriers between performers and audience, making the music more accessible and interactive. Conductor He efforts highlighted that music is not as distant as it may seem; in fact, participating and enjoying the rhythm is quite easy.

The audience holds small percussion instruments or claps to beat the music and participates in the performance together.

More importantly, it underscores the universality of music, transcending language and cultural barriers to become a bridge across diverse cultures, where people from different backgrounds can come together and share in the ocean of music, highlighting its power and allure.
