On April 3rd, according to the Taiwan Meteorological Bureau, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Hualien, Taiwan. Following the strong quake, as of 10 p.m. on April 4th, there have been over 400 aftershocks. In the early morning of April 5th, another magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred near the coast of Hualien, with a depth of 9.9 kilometers. Due to the continuous strong earthquakes and aftershocks in the Hualien area, many houses and buildings collapsed, posing a serious threat to the lives and property of the people.

4月3日，根據台灣氣象局報導，台灣花蓮發生里氏7.2級地震。強震發生後，截至4月4日晚上10時，已接連不斷發生餘震400多起。4月5日清晨，距花蓮近海又發生里氏4.1級地震，震源深度9.9公里。由於花蓮地區的強震及其餘震不斷，許多民房、高樓倒塌，導致民眾的生命和財產安全受到嚴重威脅。
