The meticulously planned and presented musical "Legends," created by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, is an original production that tells the stories of three legendary figures from Chinese history—Mulan, the Monkey King, and Nezha—through a combination of original music played by both Chinese and Western instruments, along with Chinese martial arts, dance, and rhythmic gymnastics on stage.
"Legends" is a visual and auditory feast, offering children an immersive experience to joyfully learn Chinese. In the performance, Mulan symbolizes filial piety and loyalty, helping children establish proper values. The Monkey King represents courage and wisdom, fostering cultural confidence. Nezha stands for justice and responsibility, encouraging children to face challenges bravely and enabling Chinese American youth to find confidence in their cultural identity.
