The “Legends" Original Musical, presented by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, concluded on the evening of October 12 to thunderous applause from the audience. Many attendees still feel the lingering magic of the performance, recalling it vividly. Audience member Tony remarked that the show highlighted the power of cultural arts in building bridges of understanding between different communities. He emphasized that this authentic platform fosters empathy, appreciation, and cross-cultural connections.Other audience also think "Legends" is a world-class showcase of the beauty and richness of Chinese culture, and as a member of the Chinese community, they felt immense pride and admiration.
Numerous audience members took to the cultural center's website after the show to leave encouraging messages and inquire about future performances, eager to rally friends and family to join in supporting the center. This enthusiasm uplifted both the staff and the performance team.
"Legends" was grandly staged at Segerstrom Hall, the largest performance venue in Orange County. This innovative artistic presentation uniquely combined music, dance, martial arts, and gymnastics to promote traditional Asian virtues. The performance marked a significant addition to Segerstrom Hall, which has primarily hosted Broadway shows, ballet, and large symphonic orchestras. This not only made the Chinese audience feel proud, with some even moved to tears, but also left a lasting impression on viewers from other ethnic backgrounds.
To express gratitude for the audience's support, SCCCC set up a service desk at the venue and launched the "Follow SCCCC and Win Gifts" event. Attendees could show staff members that they followed SCCCC’s social media platforms on their phones or scan QR codes on-site to select souvenirs, such as mini refrigerator magnets shaped like traditional Chinese instruments. The service desk was bustling with audience members eager to engage with SCCCC's social media and choose their favorite keepsakes, creating a lively atmosphere.
Since "Legends" tells the stories of three legendary Chinese figures-MuLan,Monkey King, and NeZha—large silhouette screens were specially set up at the venue for photos. Many families took advantage of this opportunity to pose and take pictures in front of the screens after the performance, capturing heartwarming and delightful moments.
Due to the enthusiastic response from interviewees and audience members, we are pleased to publish excerpts from the interviews and audience messages as a token of appreciation for their support and affirmation.
