Presented by Pacific Symphony, the Lantern Festival Orchestra will bring together student and adult avocational adult string players from throughout the region to perform under the direction of Pacific Symphony Assistant Conductor, Dr. Jacob Sustaita, on the stage of the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall for the 2025 O.C. Lantern Festival.
Professional musicians from Pacific Symphony will join the orchestra for the dress rehearsal and performance and will also provide sectional coaching for ensemble members. The ensemble will perform a mix of western and eastern repertoire for string orchestra.
The Lantern Festival Orchestra will rehearse on select weekday evenings from the weeks of January 21 – February 20 at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center. The Festival Orchestra will present a 20-minute performance at the 2025 O.C. Lantern Festival on February 22, 2025.
All applicants will need to submit an application form and a self-made recording of the excerpts provided for their instrument. Excerpts may be found in the application itself or downloaded here. (Former applicants may submit their previous recording if it is representative of their current skill level.)
