"Wow! A live giant snake!" A nearly 4-meter-long golden python stole the spotlight at The Market Place’s Lunar New Year celebration.
Under the careful watch of its handler, many parents and kids—some touching a snake for the first time—were amazed by the experience.
Families lined up for photos with the snake, adding excitement to the event.
Every year, The Market Place hosts special Chinese New Year festivities, featuring performances by cultural performance groups from the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC), Asian food stalls, and activities for all ages.
This year’s cultural booths featured calligraphy stations with lucky phrases, a kids' painting area, and a photo booth with stilt walkers in traditional attire.
The golden python, slithering in and out of a box, was the main attraction. Its handler, Thor, explained he’d raised the 40-pound snake since it was small.
In celebration of the Year of the Snake, the friendly python encouraged many to touch it or snap photos, embodying the spirit of "Golden Snake Welcomes Spring."
The stilt-walking photo booth also drew crowds, with families eager for a fun photo op. One child, nervous but excited, posed solo as onlookers enjoyed the moment.
The calligraphy booth was also a hit, with visitors receiving cards featuring lucky phrases like "Prosperity in All Seasons" and "May All Things Go Well," making the celebration even more memorable.

今年是蛇年，他應景受邀帶著黃金蟒蛇和大家一起慶祝農曆新年。

在踩高蹺的照相亭攤位，也吸引很多家庭合拍全家福照片。
