The Asian American Youth Leadership Summer Program, hosted by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, is now accepting applications.
This year, for the first time, the program is open to middle school students. Interested students are encouraged to apply quickly, as spaces are limited.
Founded in 2022, the Asian American Youth Leadership (AAYL) organization, under the guidance of UC Irvine's Professor Judy Tzu-Chun Wu (Director of the Humanities Center and faculty in the Department of Asian American Studies) and Tony Hwang (Executive Director, Office of Enrollment Management at UCI)。
According to Mary Nguyen, the program director of the AAYL program, this five-day summer provides students to attend seminars on Asian American history, politics, literature, and arts, led by professors and guest speakers.
Students will read books, watch films, and engage with peers to develop leadership skills and enhance self-expression.
The 2025 Summer program will run from June 23 to June 27, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (10 Truman St., Irvine, CA 92620).
