“What does the wind look like?” As midday neared, voices stirred with color and rhythm!

Presented by the Irvine Chinese Chorus (ICC), Singing in the Breeze unfolded on December 6 at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center.

Led by Wei-Chin Sun and Ying-Chien Wang, ICC and New Orange County Children's Choir (NOCCC) delivered heartfelt performances, blending age and youth in a cross-generational musical exchange.

Paint in Song  Dream in Sound

The concert opened with “Paint The Wind With Colors,” sung by ICC’s women’s group. With expressive gestures, Sun conducted like a painter in motion.

The voices, light and delicate, painted images of drifting skirts and fragrant air. The final note faded into a long, warm applause.

Bright Voices  Youthful Glow

NOCCC followed with joyful clarity. Wang led the children with gentle precision, shaping each note with care.

“Dies Irae” roared with drama, “Temple Fair” burst with local charm, and “In My Life” touched with tenderness. Each song drew waves of heartfelt cheers.

Family Bonds  Musical Roots

Founded in 1989, NOCCC features young voices ages 5 to 18, and has toured Europe. Wang, once an ICC member, returned as conductor.

She invited her 22‑year‑old son,Dylan Lee andher sixth‑grade piano student, Kathan Law to join on piano, weaving a quiet thread of legacy through generations.

Gentle Tones   Lingering Notes

ICC returned to close with three songs : “The Wishes Of A Flying Kite" offered hope in pure harmonies; “Moonlight In The City” glowed with soft emotion, and “Why We Sing” rang with peace and purpose, ending in thunderous applause.

Songs Unite   Hearts Aligned

Sun noted : ICC brings depth and warmth; NOCCC, freshness and sparkle.Their alternating voices reflected tradition and vitality.

The audience was transported by this poetic soundscape.

“Two generations, one stage — a perfect chance for the choirs to learn from each other,” shared NOCCC conductor Ying-Chien Wang.

As applause lingered, the music whispered on-a shared song of love between generations.

ICC members flashed heart signs before the show.
