AAYL Spring 2026 Program: Beyond the Frame

This program examines how Asian Americans are represented in film, television, social media, journalism, and digital platforms, and how these portrayals influence public perception and community identity.

Through the exploration of cultural hallmarks, customs, holidays, and culinary traditions, participants will critically analyze how media can reflect, distort, or reclaim cultural narratives.

As part of the program, students will engage in a community-based creative art project, transforming their reflections into original works such as:

  • Visual art

  • Digital media

  • Illustrated recipes

  • Short films

The program will conclude with a public showcase, amplifying youth voices while inviting families and the broader community into meaningful conversations around identity, visibility, and storytelling.

📌 Important Note:
There will be a training workshop with our guest artist on Saturday, January 10, 2026 (morning). This session serves as preparation for participation in the Spring program.
