The LEGENDS Production Team is seeking volunteer performers for our OC-based original musical production on May 30, 2026

LEGENDS tells the stories of Chinese legends through Chinese and Western instruments, dance, martial arts, aerial performance, and more. 

This year, we will also premiere a new story, "Chang'e Flies to the Moon." 

Performers will have the unique opportunity to bring to life an original, multifaceted, culturally significant story with original music on stage at world-class Orange County performing arts center, Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

MANDATORY TIME COMMITMENT :

- Minimum 4 Saturday evening rehearsals April 18-May 23 (Irvine, California) leading up to the performance

- May 29, 2026 - Dress Rehearsal at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (Costa Mesa, California)

- May 30, 2026 - Performance at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (Costa Mesa, California)

ABOUT YOU & AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Youth Dancers: We are looking for dancers ages 10-18 to take part in a collaborative dance team composed of artists from multiple studios, bringing to life Chinese legends through movement. Dance experience required, Chinese dance experience preferred.

Please submit a 1-minute solo dance video in Chinese dance style (classical, folk, or contemporary Chinese-inspired movement acceptable).

Pop Mezzosoprano (Duet): We are looking for a pop-style mezzosoprano (A3-A5) to sing in Mandarin (no Chinese experience necessary) who will be featured in a love song duet in the final movement of the story of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess. 

Please submit a 1-minute pop-style solo voice video (any language).

Pop Tenor (Duet) : We are looking for a pop-style tenor (D3-F#4) to sing in Mandarin (no Chinese experience necessary) who will be featured in a love song duet in the final movement of the story of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess. 

Please submit a 1-minute pop-style solo voice video (any language).

Electric Guitar: We are looking for an electric guitar player to play with the South Coast Chinese Orchestra, blending Chinese and Western instruments. Ensemble playing experience required. Please submit a 1-minute video of your playing.

Please submit by January 30, 2026 - submissions will be reviewed as they are received. Auditions received by the deadline will be notified by February 10, 2026.
