Editor’s Note :
As the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association and Irvine Chinese School near their 50th anniversary, a special editorial team is collecting reflections from former presidents and principals to preserve this half-century journey.
Cultural Express launches the “Brilliant Fifty” series, featuring selected essays that illuminate the people and stories that shaped our community.
On the occasion of Irvine Chinese School's 50th anniversary, my heart is filled with deep emotion and joy.
These fifty years represent a chapter of history for the school, and for each of us who has been part of this journey, it has been a continuous process of growth and transformation.

Giving Back · Building Home
Having had the honor of serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the President of the Parent-Teacher Association, dedicating years of service to the school and community, has been an immensely precious and profoundly meaningful experience in my life.
Looking back, I remember stepping into this role with a simple desire to give back.
However, throughout this journey, I have deeply felt the power of education and the warmth of community.
Every meeting, every event, was not only a contribution to the school but also nourishment for the souls of each member.
May the school, in the next fifty years, continue to inspire more hearts and cultivate more hope under the spirit of love and unity.
May it continue to thrive and expand, becoming a warm home for the growth of every student. Wishing the school every future day filled with radiance and hope.
It was in these interactions that I witnessed the selfless dedication of parents, the wholehearted teaching of the instructors, and the proactive learning attitude of the students—all of which deeply touched my heart.
Every small act, accumulating over time, ultimately formed the large, loving, and hopeful family we see today.
Rooted Deep · Growing Together
Our school is not merely a place for acquiring knowledge; it also achieves cultural integration and diversity in various ways within this multicultural society.
While ensuring a firm foundation in traditional Chinese culture, the school, through its curriculum, activities, language learning, and community interactions, enables students to maintain their cultural roots while developing a global perspective, becoming diverse talents with international competitiveness.
This large garden is also a warm haven where we support each other and grow together.
Often, when I see those composed and vibrant students leaving their classrooms, or witness the selfless dedication of parents for their children's future, I know deeply that these are not just the fruits of education but the results of our collective efforts and collaboration.
Each event stands as a testament to our mutual support and joint endeavors; every success is the crystallization of our collective dedication.
Hearts United · Light Endures
Over these fifty years, I feel truly honored to have worked alongside so many exceptional individuals.
The achievements and progress along the way are the results of the relentless efforts of every member.
I would like to extend my special gratitude to all the parents, teachers, and students who have supported and encouraged me.
It is your enthusiasm and support that makes each day of service meaningful. Whether during busy meetings or challenging decision-making moments, every instance deepened my appreciation for the beauty of this collective cooperation.
On this 50th anniversary, we not only reflect on the glories and achievements of the past but also look forward to the challenges and hopes of the future with grateful hearts.
For the next fifty years, let us continue to uphold this love and faith, striving to create more possibilities and opportunities for every child.
Let us jointly pass on this passion for education and work together to lay a more solid foundation for the school's future.(Brilliant Fifty XIX)
