To further promote Chinese martial arts and support the development of young athletic talent, the South Coast Wushu Team, in partnership with the International Youth Sports Development Federation (IYSDF), is launching the preliminary selection for the “Youth Future Stars Development Program.”

This community-focused initiative is open to children ages 4–12 in Los Angeles and Orange County, providing young Wushu enthusiasts with an opportunity to receive professional training and long-term development support.

The preliminary selection will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:30–8:00 PM at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCA).

Participants will be evaluated based on Wushu fundamentals, physical coordination, movement imitation, learning attitude, and overall potential. Ultimately, two outstanding students will be selected to receive one year of professional Wushu training at no cost, with a total value of more than $5,000.

The program includes 2026–2027 Wushu tuition, professional coaching and progress evaluations, support for registration in a September 2027 Wushu competition, as well as additional development and performance opportunities. The goal is to provide promising young athletes with structured and sustained support as they grow.

As a nonprofit organization, the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center is committed to serving the community through cultural and athletic education. Beyond identifying promising young talent, this program aims to use Wushu as a way to develop discipline, confidence, teamwork, resilience, and character, helping children grow both as athletes and as individuals.

The event is also welcoming volunteers who would like to support youth development and community engagement. Volunteer service hours will be provided.

The South Coast Wushu Team looks forward to working together with the community to discover potential, nurture future talent, and help more children gain health, character, and confidence through Chinese martial arts.
