On the afternoon of the 13th, the 2026 Future Stars Youth Sports Selection Event was successfully held, bringing together young athletes, families, coaches, and community leaders for an afternoon centered on youth sports and development.
Through professional fitness evaluations, sports activities, and Chinese martial arts demonstrations, the event provided children with an opportunity to discover their athletic potential, challenge themselves, and experience the joy of sports.
The event was made possible with the strong support and active participation of the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCA), the South Coast Chinese Wushu Team, and the International Youth Sports Development Federation (IYSDF).
Among the guests in attendance were Ms. Wendi, Chair of the Board of the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center and Co-Founder of the South Coast Chinese Martial Arts Team, as well as representatives from IYSDF.
Ms. Tian Jia, Vice President of IYSDF and silver medalist in beach volleyball at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, also attended the event.
Ms. Tian represented China in three Olympic Games and is also an Asian Games gold medalist.
Drawing from her own athletic journey, Ms. Tian encouraged the young participants to be willing to try, work hard, and persevere.
She reminded them not to focus too much on winning or losing, but instead to discover a sport they truly enjoy and build health, confidence, and personal growth through sports.
Mr. Zheng Hongyong, Vice President of IYSDF, and IYSDF volunteer representatives Ms. Yan Li and Ms.
Yuan Yu were also deeply involved in the planning, organization, and coordination of the event and joined the activities that day.

Working Together · Supporting Youth
As a nonprofit organization that has served the Southern California Chinese community for many years, the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center has remained committed to supporting youth education, sports development, and the preservation of Chinese culture.
For the Future Stars event, SCCCA provided the venue, event coordination, community outreach, and on-site support while helping connect local families with youth sports resources.
At the same time, the South Coast Chinese Wushu Team contributed its professional experience to the planning and execution of the event.
Head Coach Xiangjin Kong, together with Coach Rujia Wang, participated in planning the fitness evaluation and provided on-site guidance.
All participating children were evaluated using consistent standards to ensure a fair and objective process.

Coach Kong emphasized that the purpose of the evaluation was not to compare children with one another, but rather to help each participant better understand themselves, recognize their individual strengths, and build confidence through sports.
The International Youth Sports Development Federation is also committed to advancing youth sports development.
Future Stars is one of its initiatives designed to help young people discover their athletic potential, develop an interest in sports, and support their overall growth.
Moving forward, IYSDF will continue working with professional sports organizations and community partners to create more opportunities for young people to experience, explore, and grow through sports.
Martial Arts in Motion · Discovering Potential
The event also featured an exciting Chinese martial arts performance by young members of the South Coast Chinese Martial Arts Team.
Their energetic and powerful movements showcased the spirit and beauty of traditional Chinese martial arts.
Coach Rujia Wang followed with a traditional Chinese sword performance, impressing the audience with her fluid movements and dynamic technique.
Together, the performances brought youth sports and traditional Chinese culture to the same stage and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Following the performances, participants began the Future Stars Fitness Evaluation.
Guided by coaches, staff members, and volunteers, the children completed each evaluation station and challenged themselves while discovering their individual strengths.
Based on the evaluation results, the organizers have now completed individual fitness evaluation reports, which have been distributed to participating families.
The reports provide parents with a clearer understanding of their children's physical abilities and athletic potential.

Growing Through Sports · Looking Ahead
The Future Stars event was more than a youth fitness evaluation. It represented a collaborative effort by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, South Coast Chinese WushuTeam, and International Youth Sports Development Federation to support youth sports development within the community.
By bringing together professional sports resources and a strong community platform, the program gives more children opportunities to experience sports, discover their interests, and recognize their strengths.
Looking ahead, the organizations will continue to combine their resources and expertise to create more opportunities for young people to learn, participate, and grow through sports—helping them discover their potential, build confidence, develop teamwork, and grow healthier and happier along the way.
Registration for the 2026–2027 Wushu Program is now open.
