On August 23, the Chinese Dance Company of Southern California (CDCSC), jointly established by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association (SCCCA) and the Pan-American Dance Alliance, successfully held its 2026–2027 annual member evaluation and new member auditions.
The annual evaluation serves not only as an assessment of the professional training and growth of current troupe members over the past year, but also as an important opportunity to identify new talent and continue raising the CDCSC’s professional standards.
This year’s evaluation included dancers across different age groups, with current members participating in their annual professional assessment and prospective members undergoing a rigorous audition process.
To ensure the professionalism and objectivity of the annual evaluation, the Chinese Dance Company of Southern California invites respected professionals from the fields of dance and the performing arts to serve as guest judges each year.
From a professional perspective, the judges independently evaluated each dancer’s fundamental skills, technical abilities, artistic expression, and overall performance, while also providing on-site feedback.
Through this external evaluation process, the CDCSC benefits from diverse professional perspectives to assess the results of its training programs and help each dancer better understand their progress and identify areas for continued growth.

Under the leadership of Ms. Han Xue, Director of the Chinese Dance Company of Southern California, and Ms. Yang Danmei, Deputy Director, CDCSC members participated in the annual evaluation and performance showcase.
During the evaluation, dancers ranging from young children to teenagers demonstrated their fundamental skills, technical abilities, and dance repertoire.
As the dancers progressed through different age groups and levels of training, we were delighted to see their strong foundations, increasingly expressive movement quality, and deeper understanding and interpretation of their dance works.
These achievements are the result not only of their dedication and daily training, but also of the troupe’s long-term commitment to professional and systematic dance education.
The judges provided detailed and professional feedback tailored to each age group.
While recognizing the dancers’ growth, they also offered higher-level expectations and guidance for their continued development.
The judges spoke highly of the dancers’ overall technical abilities, professionalism, spirit, and the troupe’s team development.
For the children participating in the new member auditions, the judges evaluated a range of qualities, including physical fundamentals, coordination, sense of rhythm, expressiveness, and learning potential.
Every audition is more than simply an “exam.” It is an opportunity to discover potential, build self-awareness, and take the first steps toward professional dance training.
An Evaluation Is Not Only a Test, but Also a New Beginning.
From every movement in fundamental training to every breath and expression on stage; from the first signs of promise among our youngest dancers to the growing depth and artistry demonstrated by our senior members—we witnessed more than an annual evaluation.
We witnessed the continued growth and passing down of tradition from one generation to the next.
The Chinese Dance Company of Southern California (CDCSC) was established in 2019 through a joint initiative of the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center and the Pan America Chinese Dance Alliance (PACDA). CDCSC is dedicated to providing opportunities for dance enthusiasts throughout Southern California to learn, connect, and perform, while using traditional dance and original works to share stories of Chinese culture and promote the preservation and development of Chinese dance within American communities.
SCCCA is committed to preserving Chinese culture, enriching community cultural life, and promoting multicultural exchange.
Its cultural center and related arts programs also provide opportunities for learning, practicing, and showcasing Chinese cultural arts, including Chinese dance.
