A sheet of Vietnamese rice paper wraps colorful vegetables—and a deeper gratitude for the earth.

A cup of tea, a flower, and a brushstroke invite busy hearts to slow down and find stillness.

On August 29, Tzu Chi Orange County Service Center’s Seventh Lunar Month Blessing Ceremony blended prayer, plant-based food, and mindful arts—turning gratitude and love for family into action.

Mindful Listening    Compassionate Living

Guests entered quietly to “The Buddha at Vulture Peak,” then offered light, fruit, flowers, and vegetarian food.

The film Flavors on the Tongue revealed the wisdom of daily cooking: true flavor lives not only on the tongue, but in a grateful heart.

In a recorded teaching, Dharma Master Cheng Yen encouraged plant-based living to protect life and the planet.

Another film showed young people in Taiwan inspiring 50,000 people to embrace meat-free living.

Former students shared how tea, flowers, and calligraphy brought calm, gratitude, and beauty into everyday life.

Creative Arts   Family Hearts

Hands-on sessions in plant-based cooking, calligraphy, floral art, and tea ceremony filled the room with warmth and laughter.

Guests rolled fresh vegetables in Vietnamese rice paper and gained a deeper appreciation for food.

Floral art revealed nature’s harmony, while tea and calligraphy inspired respect, gratitude, and inner calm.

Couples, children, and spouses from different cultural backgrounds learned side by side.

Through shared laughter, Chinese culture crossed languages and generations.

Each roll, brushstroke, and floral creation became a handmade gift of gratitude.

The gathering closed in prayer for a peaceful society and a world free from disaster.

Kindness Unites    Love Shines

For more than 30 years, Tzu Chi Orange County has served the community through free clinics, supplies, disaster preparedness, and care for vulnerable neighbors.

Its cultural classes also bring people together across backgrounds.

Fall classes are now underway. All are welcome to find a quiet moment in food, tea, flowers, and ink—and help kindness take root.
