Irvine Chinese School Curriculum_2023-2024
We offer a variety of Chinese courses with different learning focuses to meet the needs of each student, whether in Traditional or Simplified Chinese, as well as Zhuyin or Hanyu Pinyin.
For school-age students, we provide four class sessions to choose from: Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, and Sunday afternoon. The curriculum covers all aspects of language learning, including phonetics, listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and conversation. In the third session, students have the opportunity to further strengthen their language skills and explore introductory courses on Chinese customs and culture, such as Chinese painting, calligraphy, Chinese chess, and creative arts.

Eligibility:
- You are currently in 10th grade or above at your high school.
- You must have attended Irvine Chinese School for a minimum of five consecutive years, culminating in the completion of Chinese Level II (or its equivalent).
- Alternatively, you must have attended Irvine Chinese School for at least three consecutive years, successfully completing Chinese II, and have also taken the AP Chinese exam, achieving a score of 4 or higher.
- You must have achieved an average grade of B or higher in the current school year at ICS.
- You must have a commendable attendance/participation record at ICS and be recommended by your teacher for the current school year.
