Previously, The Cambodian Family (TCF) submitted a proposal to the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Office, advocating for the formal inclusion of organizations affiliated with the Asian and Pacific Islander Task Force (APITF) in the County’s Community Planning Process (CPP). We are pleased to share that this proposal has been approved by the County, and The Cambodian Family has since informed its partner organizations of this important update.
As a member of the APITF, South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC) has played a critical role in promoting equitable access and participation in mental health services for Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
This advancement will significantly improve representation and participation from Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) in Orange County’s behavioral health planning process—addressing a long-standing gap in inclusive decision-making.
In light of this, SCCCC has been invited to host a focus group for Chinese community members served by your organization. The goal of the focus group is to listen directly to individuals who have been impacted by mental health conditions or substance use—either personally or through the experience of a loved one.
This focus group is a vital part of the Orange County Behavioral Health Community Planning Process, which will help shape future policies and funding priorities for services that support individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges.
SCCCC looks forward to partnering with you on this important initiative and working together to create a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
