Co-hosted by the City of Irvine and the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, the 2025 Irvine Mid-Autumn Festival kicks off tomorrow at Great Park!

This year, Irvine’s elected officials will lead residents in a moonlit dance, joined by Asian music, dance, cultural showcases, family games, and special exhibits.

Guests can savor diverse foods and desserts while discovering the art, stories, and deeper meaning behind the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon or Mooncake Festival, is one of Asia’s most iconic traditions.

Originating in China over 3,000 years ago, it is celebrated across Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia. The holiday symbolizes reunion, gratitude, and prosperity.

A Festival of Reunion and Tradition

Mid-Autumn Festival, a cherished tradition for over 3,000 years, symbolizes harvest, harmony, and family reunion.

Celebrated across China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia, it has become a cultural bridge for communities worldwide.

Co-hosted by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association and the City of Irvine, this year’s festival transforms Great Park into a stage of vibrant traditions for all cultures to enjoy.

Stage Performances · East Meets West

This year’s Irvine Mid-Autumn Festival will transform the main stage into a dazzling fusion of East and West.

Elected officials will dance with residents as audiences enjoy Asian music, dance, traditional attire, and stunning martial arts—where drums and lights ignite a cultural feast.

Family Games · Hands-On Fun

Beyond the stage, the festival offers even more excitement with a lantern tunnel, “Chang’e Flying to the Moon” games, and a prize quiz where visitors can win children’s books by following the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center on social media.

Hands-on fun awaits with clay mooncake making and a playful “Mooncake Walk.” Guests may even receive free mooncakes—first come, first served—bringing traditional flavors to life.

For a truly immersive experience, traditional Hanfu costumes will be available. Visitors can dress as Tang-era ladies or Song-dynasty scholars, creating photo memories of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Cultural Village · Arts and Heritage

At the cultural booths, local groups will offer lantern painting, origami, and crafts.

The Irvine Evergreen Chinese Senior Association and the Chinese Calligraphy Club will showcase live calligraphy and share free artworks.

Irvine Library will debut on-site with cultural books and library card sign-ups.

Asian Street Food · Flavors of the Night

Food is at the heart of every celebration. This year’s market expands with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai night market bites—from skewers, baked treats, and sizzling BBQ to bubble tea and creative drinks.

The aroma of sizzling grills and fresh pastries will keep guests coming back for more.
