Congratulations to SCCCA newly elected and appointed directors: Jong Limb, Rose Tsai & Joanna Kong.
South Coast Chinese Cultural Association (SCCCA) has successfully held the annual election for new Board of Directors in May, 2024. Based on the votes by the trustees, SCCCA Board of Directors has approved the two elected Board Directors (Jong Limb, Rose Tsai) and one appointed Board Director (Joanna Kong).
Jong Limb is the President and founder of Newport Partners, which develops affordable housing in California. Newport Partners has built over 3000 units using tax credits and subsidies, involving over $2 billion in affordable housing projects. Previously, Jong was President of Edison Capital, investing in tax-advantaged projects. He holds a BS in Accounting from NYU and an MBA from USO. Currently, Jong serves as a Planning Commissioner for Irvine and a Board member of the Irvine Community Land Trust and KYCC in Los Angeles. He has also served as a Board member of SCCCA, contributing to solar projects and obtaining approval for operating an immersion school. Jong's family has deep ties to SCCCA, with his wife significantly contributing to its construction, and their sons and grandchildren attending ICS. His vision for SCCCA is to be the leading organization for Chinese cultural education, focusing on language, philosophy, cuisine, art, and festivals.
Rose Tsai is the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Rose W. Tsai & Associates, with offices in Orange County and Los Angeles. Practicing law in California since 1996, she has successfully represented a diverse range of business and individual clients worldwide. Rose has also served as legal counsel to numerous international business enterprises and organizations. For nearly 30 years, she has dedicated herself to community service, including pro bono work for crime victims and their families. She has actively collaborated with various community organizations to promote understanding among different ethnic and cultural groups. Since 2021, Rose has served as a board director of the South Coast Chinese Culture Association, contributing to non-profit and charitable efforts.
Joanna Kong is the Executive Director of the Sun Family Foundation, focusing on educational opportunities and well-being for the underserved in Orange County. Before this role, she was a corporate attorney specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Joanna serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Orange County Community Foundation and Orange County Grantmakers, where she is the current Chair. She holds a B.A. in Criminology, Law, and Society from UC Irvine and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. As an Irvine Chinese School alumna and second-generation Chinese American, Joanna is deeply committed to SCCCA's mission and values. Her extensive experience in the legal, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors equips her with unique skills and perspectives to contribute to SCCCA's strategic direction and sustainability.
